It’s International Women’s Day and it’s time to celebrate!!
Here at FFFN, we have noticed that the largest majority of our followers are in fact women. I’ve
started wondering why this is and I’ve done some research into different aspects of women’s
empowerment, women’s individuality, even women in fashion (we are an awesome fashion brand,
after all!) and of course, how this all interlinks with being FFFN.
Here are the things I have learned through my research that have resonated so strongly:
International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on the 8 th March and is a day to celebrate
the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The theme for this
year’s International Women’s Day is “Choose to Challenge”, which aims to encourage
individuals to challenge gender bias and inequality, and to help create a more inclusive
world. The day also serves as a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
Empowering women refers to the process of providing women with the skills, resources and
opportunities needed to increase their autonomy, control over their own lives, and to be
able to participate fully in economic, political and social activities. This can include
improving access to education and employment, promoting gender equality in laws and
policies, increasing women’s participation in decision-making processes, and combating
violence against women. Empowering women has been shown to have positive impacts on
families, communities and economies.
Women’s individuality refers to the unique qualities, characteristics and personality traits
that define each woman and make her distinct from others. It encompasses aspects such as
thoughts, feelings, beliefs, values and interests that shape who a woman is. Respecting and
promoting women’s individuality involves recognising their diverse experiences and
perspectives and creating an environment where women are free to express themselves
without fear of judgement or discrimination. Celebrating women’s individuality helps to
promote diversity, inclusiveness and equality and allows women to lead fulfilling lives.
Celebrating women refers to recognising and appreciating the contributions and
achievements of women in various aspects of life. This can include acknowledging their
accomplishments in fields such as politics, business, arts, sports and many other areas.
Celebrating women helps to promote gender equality and inclusiveness and can inspire
future generations of women to reach their full potential. Celebrating women can involve
increasing visibility for female role models and advocates and creating spaces where
women’s voices and perspectives are valued and heard.
Women in fashion refers to the female designers, models, executives and other industry
professionals who play a significant role in the global fashion industry. Fashion has a long
history of being dominated by men, but women have made significant contributions and are
increasingly taking on leadership roles in the industry. Celebrating and supporting women in
fashion involves acknowledging their creative contributions, as well as advocating for gender
equality in the workplace and greater representation of women in the fashion industry. This
can include initiatives to increase the visibility of female designer and executives, providing
mentorship and support to women in the industry and challenging gender stereotypes in
fashion. The fashion industry has a significant impact on popular culture and the way
women are seen and represented, so promoting the contributions and leadership of women
in fashion is important for advancing gender equality more broadly.
Being “Far From FKN Normal” is a phrase that suggests something is atypical or outside the
usual or expected range of experiences. It can be used to describe a situation, a person or
an occurrence that is unique and unusual in some way. The phrase is often used to express
a sense of individuality or to highlight the ways in which something is different from the
norm. In some cases, it can be used to celebrate or embrace the unconventional aspects of
life.
So, what do we do with all these fun facts and super interesting information? Well, we action it of
course!!! This International Women’s Day, celebrate who YOU are – a powerful, unique, Far From
Fkn Normal woman. Celebrate the women in your lives who inspire you, motivate you, teach you,
love and care for you. Celebrate these things in yourself as well and take immense pride in how you
inspire, motivate, teach, love and care for others.
As a woman, promote your individuality, own your autonomy, educate others on gender equality
and celebrate the achievements of women! And make sure you do it wearing your FFFN gear so the
message gets out there, loud and proud!
